1997 Mitsubishi Pajero engine missing under constant throttle problems

Report a Problem

Date:September 11, 2011, 7:00 pm
Name:Peter Tantram
Location:Nevis, Charlestown, Charlestown
Vehicle:Mitsubishi Pajero
Year:1997
Modification:V6 3.5 GDI
Problems:The problem is the engine missing. This manifests itself when the throttle is constant. It is not apparent under acceleration. So far we have replaced all the ignition coils - 6 of them ! I have also replaced the alternator.. 9 months ago the engine overheated so we have now reground the head and valve seats as well as new gaskets. None of this has made any difference.
Any suggestions please. The island I live on has VERY limited resources so getting parts or skilled mechanics has it's difficulties.

The engine indicator on the dashboard always goes on showing something is wrong with the engine whenever I increase speed especially driving on a hill. What might be the problem?
