| Problems: | It does have the power and the idling is not constant.I took it to General Motors and I was told the problem is the airflow metre,I bought the new one but the problem still continue,so now it seem to loose power when taking off from the stop sign or robots. Can u please help me to save lovely car. | |

| hi i had the same issue with this same car, crank sensor, fuel filter, exhausts, AGR all changed, plus injector ( used ) still have the same problem you have a mechanic advise to change injectors with new ones, and keep in mind low quality gas really affects a lot so i stop fixing it and didnt change the injectors waiting a solution from the net, please if you found a solution for your car to reply back regards ali |

| pls try my suggestion dated august 2014 / REGAP SINGLE GROUND SPARK PLUG TO .018 DOWN TO .016 and if needed gapping it down to .014 of an inch. BEFORE CHANGING EXPENSIVE PROSPECT DAMAGED PARTS, PLS DO THIS AS FIRST AID. i'm fixing european cars since 1968 up to now i'm 65 yrs old still in SINGLE OWNED automotive european service shop. to proved, i owned opel tigra model 1996,/ opel astra wagon 1992, /(fixing OPEL different model) / mercedes benz, 2.4 diesel model 123 1985, / mercedes benz wagon 300 td, 1979 123, /m.b. 23o te wagon 123, 1985, /m.b. 2.3 1985 190E / m.b. kompressor SLK 230 1998, 2door convertible. | Hi bcardenaljr, I am from the Philippines. I own a opel astra 2001, AT. Idling is ok at start and while running without aircon. Everything normal. When the aircon switch on and the car is not moving (brakes applied) or running less than 5 km/hr, the rpm drops between 550 to 600 rpm. The throttle position is set to D-Drive. To avoid stalling or avoid the irritating noise at the dashboard, I set to the throttle to Neutral during stops, the rpm recovers to 800 rpm. I sense the ECU is adjusting the rpm and working. Back to normal. The car has an engine light on. I know the error codes using scanner. Pedal sensor 2 is not detected and EGR error which is a common error for the opel astra engines Z16xe. Would adjusting the spark gap would help? Please provide your contact number. |

| most of opel astra1.6 petorl car are troubled by throttle position sensor or throttle governorchange the parts and crt the problem complaint is vechicle slow speed is not properly running in ideal rpm |

| Try changing the sensor on your flywheel,Not necessarily gonna work,but try...who knows,maybe it saves you a lot of bucks on mechanics,and the problem is in your reach. |

| After checking all the above mentioned comments... try changing the fuel pump also! My 2003 Astra has been jerking, and loss off power, after a ALOT of money spent, I simply ordered a new fuelpump. All over. |

| After reading all this problms.if it doesn't start its a relly for feul pump. For not idle & loosing power, its a fuelpump by its own. Buy a new 1. |

| Maybe This Might Help,check your throttle body and use Carb Cleaner or Throttle Cleaner With A Clean Cloth... N.B Do Not Spray The Whole Can In The Throttle.. Try To Open It And Spray A Bit In Side Then Wait For An Hour For It To Dry Then You Can Start The Vehicle.. Or It Might Be That Your Idling Valve Needs Replacement Or Maybe Your Throttle Body Needed A Cleaning As They Get Dirty |

| Again It Might Happen That Your Car Doesn't Use A Cable To Open The Throttle But A Switch/Plug... That Means You Need To Check That Plug If It Is Properly Inserted In The Switch As This May Result In Loose Of Power & Idling A Bit High |

| Hi All, Vehicle: Opel Astra 1.6, Twin-port, 2007, 185 000km Problem 1: The car "hunted" while idling (cold/hot it did not matter). Problem 2: Car starts and revs to around 2000 and slowly drops to normal range (usually) Problem 3: car would idle at around 500-600 RPM (very rough). Solution 1 (failed): full service (oil, filters, cam belt, coil pack, etc). Solution 2 (failed): Tappet cover one way valve perished. This is a build in unit so a new tappet cover is required (agents: R 10 000.00 ex labor + VAT). Solution 3 (failed): one way valve on the inlet manifold perished. Agents originally wanted to supply a whole new manifold at R 11 000.00 (ex labor + VAT). (perished valves accompanied by a whistle at the coil pack cover and seemed from the firewall as the sound bounced back) I striped the car (cleaned the throttle body) and found the one way valve. New valve with pipes from agent R 1 700.00. Problem "solved". I can not verify this (see below) New problem: car (when hot) fails to idle. Solution 1 (failed): updated computer. Solution 2 (failed): checked all sensors. Solution 3 (possible cause): after leaving my car at the agents for more than a week and spending countless hours reading and pulling of hair I considering burning the car (no I would not claim from insurance for this) they replied: we don't know what the problem is. Possibly the fuel pump (fuel filter is clean but found metal filings in the pump). New pump R 5 700.00 (ex labor + VAT). In the mids of all this the water pump decided to fail spectacularly. Luckily the car was in the garage. Hope your problems stop at the valves (got most parts at Gold Wagen) and fitted myself (if you don't know how get the parts and find a good mechanic. Saves on the profit they make on the parts). Next fault finding: Replace the fuel pump. I will post again once this is done. If anyone has any other possible solutions please advise? In the meantime I'll look to finance a new car. Astra will become a tinker toy. Good luck all. |

| So fuel pump has been changed and the car was running well for a few days and started again. This time I got a definite answer the the computers are failing. New car it is. |

| To all those having a problem with their 1.6 Opel Astra 2002/2003 models cars being powerless, maybe try changing the coil pack. I would suggest that you look for someone who's having the same car and temporary exchange the coil packs to test yours before buying. If the car performs well then you can go buy yourself one. I had the same problem but not anymore after changing my coil pack |

| Hi guys I have an opel astra 1.6 16valve 2005 I had broke a piston, bent 5 valves and damaged my crankshaft while driving at high speed so I had all 4 pistons with conrods replaced with new ones , bought new cambelt, new valves. repaired the crankshaft When starting my car the idle was sitting on 3000rpm constantly and when pressing the accelerator peddle the car would go on limp mode.. I was told by a mechanic to buy a new throttle body.. I had bought two and still the same problem even after relearning the throttle body with a diagnostic machine. I replaced my accelerator pedal unit with another and still have the same problem Any advice on what I can do next please... |
