| With the Check Eng Light coming on while starting the car, is normal as long as it goes off immediately. But while driving the car for awhile, then coming on indicates a wide variety of issues. My 1988 Daihatsu Charade was doing the same. My issue was the Timing Belt needed to be replaced. Had no issue with Chk Eng Light coming on since. It is recommended to change the Timing Belt every 30,0000 miles and mine actually had over 90,000 miles of use. Do check the Timing Belt first and foremost, as if it breaks while driving, you will end up with costly repairs or replacement of the Head. I hope I have been of some help. |
