1998 Isuzu Bighorn 4jx1 engine problem

| General comments: | Kindly give help otherwise let me know where I can buy a replacement engine and how much it will cost CIF, Lusaka, Zambia | |
| Problems: | On two occassions, the vehicle reved itself such that even without stepping on the gas, the rev counter went to maximum with temp counter showing overheating yet water and radiator were working perfectly. The second ti happened after over 6 months, the solution was to stop it and just towed home. After checking the engine, engine oil is watery like and the air filter is full of oil. the Impellers do not show any oil at oil. | |

| Vicmaro, Your engine has a fuel system related to CAT's HEUI(hydraulically actuated electronically controlled unit injector).the engine has 3 oil pumps and 2 filters. one pump is dedicated to supplying oil pressure to open the injectors. the injectors have 6 O-rings to separate fuel, oil and water. these O-rings were originally not up to the job; hence the several recalls to fix this problem. diesel in the oil in many cases would make the engine rev itself.If you have starting problems it could be because of low oil pressure to the injectors or a faulty actuation pressure sensor below the cam cover. Also bear in mind that thick monograde oils like SAE40 take long to build the pressure required to actuate the injectors. i would recommend a synthetic oil like 5W40(helix ultra)for easy starting. I have successfully fixed a number of these engines and i'm enjoying it..... |

| I have 1998 Isuzu bighorn 3L diesel CRDi. It went off while in motion. Now the engine warning light does not come on when key is on. The engine is not starting. We have checked the fuel system, changed engine oil using 5w 40SAE engine oil, changed oil filter, checked all the sensors and wire connection. Any help Please |

| Hi, I have a customers vehicle which is an Australian Holden Jackaroo with the Isuzu 4JX1 motor. Came in with a engine missfire, compression test was good, all cylinders OK, fitted new set of 4 injectors, started up and ran OK, test drove vehicle for about 15 kms, changed oil and filters, also air and fuel filters. was running fine, another test drive, motor went really well, shut if off to do final oil level chesks, now the motor wont start, help. scan tool wouldnt read ECU, sent ECU out for testing, no problem found, re fitted ECU still wont fire up? any suggestions would be much appreciated. | Dear J.M.Mwale, Our car isuzu bighorn 4XJ1 have some problem that engine can crank but slowly . Battery and starter motor are good . It is overhaul engine . Before install injectors , we turn engine by manual . It can turn smootly . Please answer us why . |

Check engine always appears on the Meter Board even after servicing the engine and changing the timing belt. What is the problem here? 2. When starting the engine, it automatically accelerates to high an low, high and low for sometimes before back to normal. Whats wrong here? |

| we crank the engine but it wont run after overhaul the 4jx1 engine.what wrong with this?belt timing,crank pulley and cam shaft gear position are correct position.i dont have tech 2.i think the prob may be from electrical line or something.Please help me. |

| Hi everyone, I have a problem here with ISUZU BIGHORN 4jx1 (3.0). The engine start normally when cold and drive test is okay. It can drive until the fuel run out. But if I stop the engine and start again, it wont start. The temperature is okay. Oil pressure is about 7.5 and desire is 8 MPA. But if I put some gasoline or ethanol base, it start normally and can drive. Somebody tell me please. Kindly need help ð?™?ð?™?ð??? |
