2003 Toyota Voxy fuel consumption problems in Kenya

| General comments: | Please advise | |
| Problems: | The car is consuming crazy amounts of fuel; 4.5litres per kilometre on urban roads and 5.5litres per KM on highway. I have done the service; including flushing the engine and changing plugs, checked that there is no leaking in the exhaust pipe. What could be the problem? Please advise. No mechanic problems being displayed........though at times it shows the engine light but then disappears as soon. | |

| Just have your car diagonised.whenever check engine light comes on it idicates there is a problem in the EFI system. |

| aways drive this automatic cars in overdrive mode, avoid too much reveing of the engine,always alternate overdrive mode and non overdrive modes at the correct times..sevice the vehicle with the correct engine oil and correct plugs,correct engine timing is important,always have computorized diagnosting technics....do you know that this vvti gasoline vehicles are suporsed to use regular fuel?...its obvious that 99% of kenyans always use supper that regular...regualar is cheaper,,burns slowly and thus drives longer and the performance of the vehicle is still the same like when supper is used....always used balanced wheels with balanced presures and correct alighnment.. |

| check cause of check light first ensure you have the correct plugs assuming you have 2ZR engine sr20hr11 is correct plugs(subject to dealer advice) ensure clean air cleaner ensure u take fuel from registered service station *this vehicle is sensitive to plugs and fuel type the rest observe driving habit |

| i used to have a similar problem with my 2003 voxy. to control your consumption, just ensure that you are soft on your accerelator pedal. dont let the "eco" light on your dashboard to go off. it usually goes off when you are hard on your pedal. secondly use regular fuel. its heavier and burns slowly. the rest is obvious tha t the car must be in good shape. |

| Get your fuel injectors checked by a qualified mechanic they could be worn out.had the same problem |

| j'ai le probleme avec toyota vox le ecu n'affiche pas le temoin de chec moteur j'ai change le ecu de numero 211000-8550 le vehicule na pas demarrer la pompe a carburant fonctine tres bien main pas de haute tension et les injecteurs ne s'ouvre pas que fere? |

| some of ur car engine fuel injector may open and spray the fuel as a tap. |

| you can try to reset the onboard computer by taking of the battery terminals,turn on the lights and simulate starting the engine. this will use all the available power stored everywhere in the electronics system. now you can put the terminals back on an try to see if there is a difference. another option may be replacing the airflow sensor also, should be mounted somewhere along the air the intake.(air filter case or beyond) |

| I recently bought a toyota Voxy, and it's surely let me down by what i may call over consumption.6km per 1litre of petrol.By virtue of being a mechanic i have a feeling that i have exhausted all mechanical diagnosis which maybe would lead to this vice. Tirelessly having done all this, i should say there has been no improvement. Engine is 1AZ. Please advice. |
