General comments: | Have had the car for about 7 years now and it has had this problem the whole time i have owned it.Have changed the glow plugs several times but to no avail. Some people have told me its the turbo"the fuel pump and so on.
Problems: | On cold start up the engine will start and run for a minute or so then start to choke and smoke. Then slowly die. Once the car is warmed properly it will run fine. However even when the car is warmed; if left for an hour or so the same thing will happen again.

This common. You are not alone. Many solutions have been tried, but only one works. Change the $15 seal on the fuel pump input shaft. It separate the engine oil from the fuel system. My Paj would also stall out when at idle if the nose of the truck was elevated anything more than level. It's air getting into the fuel supply causing the stall. My truck went from unsafe to drive, to failsafe. Labour to install the seal 2-3 hrs. If you do it your self, buy the seal on Ebay and get free instructions with it. Search Pajero Club UK and read all the other useless sollutions. |
