1999 Mitsubishi Dingo temperature guage shoots high under certain conditions problems in New Zealand

Problems: | Under normal round-town conditions the car is perfect. If I go out on the highway and run the car for an hour that's fine. Then I will stop the car. 10 minutes later I will drive further... then the temperature gauge shoots up high (maximum) before slowly settling down to something more normal. Just recently the gauge has been showing higher with normal summer highway driving especially driving the car uphill. Our Mitsubishi people don't support this model but were willing to look at it. they could not find anything suspicious and told me to bring back if I had more probs. No good if one is in another city having driven for miles. Please help .... thanks, Mike |

hi there, though it is an old posting, still i am taking my chances. i have same car same model 1999 mitsubishi dingo and experience exact issue. additionally the car feels powerless.. i read somewhere that there could be low transmission fluid, blockage in fuel supply, clogged air filter and/or spark plug may need replacement. i havent got anything done so far, but just wondering did you find fix for your car? what did you did? many thanks. ash/auckland/nz |
