General comments: | garage would like to know if prior mechanical history of car can be sourced from japan; and if there is any similar fault being reported in this model of Gracia station wagon. A drumming noise is also heard from left wheel assembly on hard accelaration when turning right. Any advice appreciated
Problems: | Car was imported from Japan, inspected japan 16 december 2004 JEVIC certificate 20041217-70989, at 81,238 km, sold through Toyota NZ as a Signature range vehicle. Wheel balancing and wheel alignment checks have been done In 2007 a local garage replaced both drive axles with second hand axles which reduced shimmering effect; however effect has now returned. My local garage disassembled left front hub assembly, pressed out wheel bearing found bearing balls pitted and outer race dented, replaced with new bearing etc. found CV joints still noisy, checked grease and repacked inner CV joint and refitted axle. Transmission specialist suspected noise not in gearbox but in drive train
