| the condition of the piston rings are not good and having low power. That's why it is burning oil and having white smoke from the exhaust. You'll need to overhaul the engine. |

| Definately the piston rings are either very worn out or broken.this results in loss of compression and combustion pressure,thus poor acceleration/cruise.the worn or broken rings allow lubricating oil into the combustion chamber and the burning oil results in the white smoke{and excessive oil consuption}.u have no choice but to replace any worn out rings,sleeves,pistons,main bearings,head gasket,seals etc..have fresh oil,filters etc.remember to pressure clean and unblock the radiator for a freshed engine. |

| I had three of the same nissan caravans with the same problems as that one of Bernad of Mutare but according to my observations it was all the pumps which needed services because after i replaced the diesel injector pumps with new ones everything gets back to normal. Main worry is where to service the replaced pumps where genuine job is done in Zimbabwe |

| Iam having a similar problem as the previou writters and mine its bit trick becouse I have put up a new fUel pump,horses and fuel filter all in vain.Your suggestion into this matter is highly appreciated. |

| guys im a motor mechanic I live in zimbabwe mutare.I have solved so many of nissan caravan with ZD30 engines.Some of them passed out white smoke,some didn't even start and with some losing power.I can solve ur problems people |

| when u see a continueous white smoke on a zd30 with no airlock try to to replace yo injection pump. Worn piston rings will produce bluewish smoke |

| I ALSO A MECHANIC . AFTER ASSEMBLING A ZD30 MOTOR , ENGINE STARTS , IDLES WELL, REVS UNTIL 40 KM/HR, WHITE SMOKES . NO POWER , TIMING OK . AM NOT THE ONE WHO DIS-ASSEMBLED THE ENGINE . JUST ASSEMBLED |

| I have also encountered same problem as above soon after replacing head gasket.the head was skimmed ,the engine sounds OK 120km/hour but my worry is intermittent loss of power ,white smoke and no revs for 1-3 minutes.It will soon regains , performs and sounds OK |

| lf your nissan caravan continues smoking white some,make sure change your fuel pump and also chech your terbo if it has.check the terbo shaft is it ok or not.these are only two things that can be solved your problem |

| mine is also a zd30.and after skimming head and putting a asbestos head gasket it began starting with a hard crank .thought it was the lift pumps . after 2 days 1000km we noticed that it was leaking oil .the oil ,oil was founding its way out through the seams of tapet cover and after retoque. and puttin another lift pump ther was a white smoke coming out the exhaust.we initially thought it was an airlock which would clear later, to our suprise it diddnt..the white smoke only appeara when you moving slow or wen its iddling.but wen moving fast it would clear..now i left the car for two days without starting the engine, when i later tried it wouldnt start.i even bought quick start tried to choke it, it wouldnt..i need a good mechanic .app me 0783221201. |

| I had a similar problems with mine(petro engine).No power although the engine sounded great.The maximum speed it could travel with was 80km/hr.It was really bad.I changed almost everything from fuel pump,air filter,plugs,engine oil,transmission oil etc.I even went for diagnosis and they told me I have to change another part in the gearbox.I was considering buying a new gearbox when yestrday a local mechanic called me to his garage.You believe the solution was easy!He just removed the exhaust and there was a pile of chumf inside!The Japanese put that stuff to reduce pollution.The chumf almost filled up a 20 litre bucket!He removed it and replaced the exhaust pipe and I tested the car.It clocked 180km/hr within 3kms!So unbelievable!This might help someone a great deal as I was about to lose money for a new gearbox |

| My zd30 turbo just switched off and tried cranking couldnot start a certain mechanic had to change fuel filter and jump start e car and e car roared to life. After this day it smokes a whitish smoke power is there and engine oil normal.many times smoke sometimes stops. What could be the problem |

| Mine its Nissan caravan ( petrol engine) Previously it was losing power but the mechanic remove the stuff from the exhaust and it kick start well after about 1500 km it now failing to increase rev count and sometimes it sound as if it is being reved while its not and there is no power .What could be the problem . | My Nissan caravan zd30 is leaking oil to the radiator and water is leaking between the timing cover and the head , white smoke when starting not moving , now dark smoke , idling high perch sound , loses power engages gear back wards , want to add power it loses power , lastly switched it on Friday , struggling to switch on .please help lam in Bulawayo |
