| General comments: | The manufacutrer should do something about this problem as it appears the major issue with this brand. Mine is a 2002 model. How do you have a major part such as a gearbox just mulfunctioning so soon and to make it worse there are no spares or new gearbox units? | |
| Problems: | Not changing into next gear from gear #1. Looking for brandy-new/second hand gearbox which has broken chain for spares.Please help with where i can get one. if you have lets talk. | |

| I have a similar problem. This type Nissan uses special CT AFT oil. So if you use ordinary AFT oil it will not respond. This vehicle has a chain that when broken down like what mine did, you hate the car for good, nonetheless buy an almera gear box and replace your you will love this car for ever. hope you find this helpful |

| I have a problem with my Nissan Liberty 2001 Model. First the gears would not change, and that was resolved by changing the Speed sensor's on the gearbox. My current problem is i lost drive totally, and i assume the chain has broken. I hoping to look for a replacement box, than to repair the one i have. | I have a 2001 Nissan liberty that won't change gears and have high raves at low speed. My mechanic have changed the step up motor 4 times now. Every time he puts a new a step up motor the gears change fine but after a few km the gears get stuck again.My mechanic i suggesting that it is an electrical problem that keeps blowing the step up motor, i am confused, have lost a lot of money and now packed the vehicle and using public transport. what could be the solution? please help! |

| Its seems we all having the same kind of problem with this brand Nissan Liberty coz I also have th same problem it revolts harshly to a low gear below 20km if u force it th car end up smoking have also changed th CVT ATF oil 3 tymz and also regularly top it bt th problem is still there can some one help us wat is really the problem cause I'm nw even afraid to drive in a high way with it because of th problem |

| Liberty car cannot change to top gear up to 40km/hr. The chain is okay. Could it be transmission oil level, top converter or some electronics problems? The gearbox was opened and no error was found. The torgue in reverse gear and starter-up gear is excellent. Which companies supply CVT ATF oil? |

| Liberty common problems are as below SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER this is as a result of a faulty speed sensor on the top right side of the gear box.it only take a number 10 spanner toremove and re-fit another sensor so dont be fooled by the greedy mechanics. NOT SHIFTING GEARS -use of ordinary CVT AFT will only damage the gearbox buy the correct oil at FUCHS at Highfield junction coming from town along simon mazorodze you turn right at ZBC and check your right side 100m before the round about at highfield junction next to swiss motors.This problem can also be as a result of a damaged step motor that costs about $300 in most cases the step motor is damaged as a result of a malfunctioning speed sensor. HIGH FUEL CONSUMPTION - Air filter needs to be changed air flow sensor and spark plugs will be faults na need replacement.A wrong air flow reading results in high fuel intake.. Liberty is not a bad car like people say just make sure you have the corect things inplace and you wont have a single problem. Continued use of a faulty liberty will only cause more damage and weigh down on your pocket.Beware.FFT |

| comrades this car is a big problem the earlieryou get rid of it the better. i sold mine but i had found a solution to the high raves, high fuel consumpion, low speed. i got the speed sensors changed but it should be done quickly before the belt in the gearbox brakes, after that it will be super then after please sell it to someone and get at least a toyota car |

| I have had a similar problem with my Nissan Liberty 2002 model. I changed sensors, the problem came back shortly after, I bought a new gear box and it worked for three months. The Car has really stressed me and even the Nissan guys in Kenya can not help. This is my first and last Nissan to buy, I can't even get a buyer for the damn thing ! |
