Suggest a Solution

Hi Trevor ... One cause of this problem might be a voltage drop between the ignition and starter solenoid. It is most common when the engine is hot. To test if this is the problem do this. Put ignition on , car OUT OF GEAR, use a screwdriver or shot wire to bridge the small terminal on the solenoid to the +ve big fat wire from the battery. If the starter operated problem is a voltage drop. Solution: fit a 12v volt 4 pole relay into the start circuit as follows: Take a wire from terminal 86 to earth ... from 85 to the small wire that used to go go to the starter solenoid... 31 to + (you can use a small wire from the fat +ve on the solenoid to the relay) 87 now connects to where the small wire on the solenoid was connected. Now when you operate the starter switch the relay operates and makes a short connection +_ve to relay to 87 to solenoid ... which is the same as using a screwdriver. |
