1998 Toyota Harrier gear does not change easily, fails to climb even a small hill, noisy reverse gear problems

| Problems: | This is an AT vehicle. When I put the gear to D at times it fails to move fast even when you acclerate it. At times it is fine. When that happens, the o/d drive light on the dash board blicks even when you put it on. Also when you engage reverse gear, you hear unusual sound like a heavy metal has hit the engine. |
