Location: | New Zealand, Auckland, Auckland
Vehicle: | Toyota Harrier
Year: | 1999 | |
Problems: | Our 1999 3.0 4WD G spec V6 harrier will splutter or have a slight dead spot when accelerator peddle is pushed hard to the floor. However, It will accelerate OK slowly when the accelerator pedal is gently applied. Not very good when you want to pass in a hurry. Plugs, aircleaner etc all checked. I was told it may be the a fuel filter issue in the fuel tank. Car drives fine under normal driving conditions. |

I had the same issue and it was greatly reduced and almost eliminated by cleaning the MAF Sensor. (google that). I think a better solution is replacing it. |

I have a same issue, but I have one cylinder not working. The fuel filter in the tank might need cleaning. Good idea to have fuel nozzles cleaned. A good mechanic should be able tell you if it is a Fuel or Ignition problem. Good luck. HESITATION ON ACCELERATION SEEMS MORE LIKELY A FUEL PROBLEM. Fuel Pump/ Fuel Filter/ Fuel Nozzles. |

Mine is 2000 Toyota harrier 2WD. I had same problems. Removed all 6 Fuel Nozzles and found No: 6 Nozzles was completely blocked with very fine sand. Unfortunately the fuel we get here in Mozambique is disgusting. Cleaned out all 6 Nozzles in an Ultrasonic cleaner. Now the car runs like new.... Regards to all. |

Change the Mass Air Flow Sensor. This stopped the problem on my Harrier. Cleaning it did not work. Buy from Ebay as Toyota will charge you $200 plus. Mine cost $47 landed. Very easy to fit. Only 2 screws to undo. |
