| Dear Athula, This is a common problem in passo. I have a 2007/12 passo. same sound comes when going in rough road. You show this to a garage like automirraj. they will fix problem. when there is a play in rack, this sound comes as I know. Dilan |

| Please don't change any part, need to adjust pinion gear in the rack assay and lubricate with hard grease. job done. I have a passo too, I did it myself at home cause I am a Technician. |

| hi can anyone please help i bought a passo 2005 and i have 2 problems . the first is that my stearing vibrates heavily when i suddenly break over say 70kmh. it does not shimmer like in a circular motion but rather as if i want to pull it off. the next problem is this irritating rattling noise from under the stearing in the driver side .thats when on pebble roads and i hear it ifi allow the car to move on its own without accelerating. please help with suggestions please |

| Steering rack of the Toyota passo is a standard problem with the passo. You can adjust it to decrease the rattling noise but in the time it will come back because the part is patent and it has teflon rings which tend to wear after a while and these can not be changed. What i did was remove the entire steering rack, replaced grease with thicker grease, remove the spring completely (do not replace) and then tightened the adjustable screw and then welded it in place since the screw lock tends to slacken after a while. You have to adjust right the first time, it will be a little stiff but enough that you can still turn it with a pliers. This because it is hell to remove the steering rack and takes up a total time of 5 to 6 hours just remove, service and replace. There is only one adjustable screw on the right side, so the left side will still rattle lightly. The steering will also become stiff the tighter the screw. Be careful when installing again since the two screws on the right side of the shaft that bolts into the base of the car tends to wear very easily if screw are not screwed in correctly or to tight. I have a solution to that too! But thats not the topic at the moment. |

| hi guys, I have a Toyota passo 2008 and it also has the same problem but massive as we have already fix the steering rack once, can anyone suggest a partshop that has genuine steering rack and suspension plates L - R both... thanks |

| i have a Toyota passo 2005 model the problem is that the steering has a lot of play and it makes a lot of noise from the steering rack when driving in rough roads.what should i do.Should i change the whole steering rack?if yes advise where to get the original one.If it can be maintained please advise how to do it. |

| i have had passo 2008 for two years.This 2017 yesterday,i had my rack special bushing inside the rack two replaced and the rattling gone,have your press engineers replace them .Vehicle now smooth |

| hi i have a 2008 passo and it is giving me a lot of hasle . some times i want to smash it in a wall. i hate this bloody car, i alrady fixed the steering then the electric power steering water pump shocks suspention arms and still giving me problems . when i pass over sleeping police it makes a sound like something is untight , when i put it on reverce a noize comes frome the driver side ,when pasing on bumps it make a hell of noises. for me is the worse car ever had . |

| Hi....have the same problem with my 2006 Toyota passo. The rattling sound from the the sterring rack makes it hard for me to want to drive long distance lest something worse happens. Are there spares for the sterring rack? |

| I have the same problem clunking noise in side the rack and during brake i got the vibration passo 2006 i have change the inner and outer tie rod still same. Now i am no sure if it is the rack bushing are somthing inside the rack . |

| hello .i do have a toyota Passo racy 4wd .it has a knocking noise on the front suspension and ive been told its the steering rack.will you be abble to give me details on the way this fault should be fixed?please if possible,than send me pictures of dismentled steering rack in order for me to share details with my mechanic.is the steering of passo4wd the same with a normal one.can i adjust the inside of the steering rack for me to sort this out?thankyou |
