| I got a serious fuel consumption on my toyota hiace year 2000 my average consumption is 4.3 km per litre and have since stopped using the car as it have become too expensive. Km 96000 and have just done a service; oil filter change, fuel filter change, air filter and am told the plugs will be replaced 100 000km? What could be my problem please help as i had hust imported this car |

| Good day. If problem started after the service, see what were changed or worked on. Maybe there is a rag in the air pipe, or some wires are not connected, for example is there a temperature probe on the air filter housing - check its wire. Is oil replaced? Oil level OK? Was timing adjusted? It seems that the engine inlet pipe is blocked or the choke is stuck open which will cause the carburator to suck more fuel. You can release the choke by hand or at least put some spray oil on the mechanisms to ensure it operate easily. Otherwise check the exhaust to be open - sometimes the exhaust is blocked inside and the car will have no power and cant accelerate. If it is fuel injection (and not carburator), then ensure fuel injector connections and also plug connections are still good. All the best. |
