| General comments: | out of this problem the car is o.k but this problem make me unhappy with this type of engine | |
| Problems: | after starting and drive it about 1km start misfire,reduce the engine speed and makes black smoke. so when you check oil level it is above the mark,so that it seems some fuel get into oil | |

| the throutle body is the coruse of all the problem we face on the d4 engine , such as misfirering ,jecking, and lose of idling am saying so becouse that is where the idle and speed is. |

| Maintenance must be observed for day to day running: Blow air cleaner element to keep enough aeration through Maintain a standard minimum level of fuel in the tank i.e. not run empty tank all time. Another useful thread I picked recommended use of iridium plugs that have to be changed in time i.e. at below 60,000kms, and use of synthetic engine oil to be changed after about 10,000kms, and keeping an eye on the timing belt. â??Regular service and quality fuel will make the engine last for long. Attend to it quickly if there are signs of over-heating. Itâ?™s a powerful modern engine that is fuel economical. Its problems are with its sensors; Oxygen sensor, fuel pressure sensor, and ignition timing sensor. |

| Toyota Vista. Problems associated with this D4 direct injection engine are hard to cure due to bad access behind the intake manifold and plenum chamber. Under the manifold is the fuel pressure rail. On the rhs are located the electric motor driven fuel pressure regulator, to deal with the rangeof fuel requirements to the injectors between closed throttle to full open throttle scenarios. Also on this side, and difficult to remove, is the three pin fuel rail pressure sensor, part number 89458 32010: these two items control the petrol pressure in the fuel rail. If either are faulty, it can cause very lean or very rich mixtures in the cylinders. High pressure can cause injectors to weep fuel in the cylinders when engine off. The fuel seeps past the rings and into the sumpshowing a rise in oil quantity. Conversely, low pressure causes the car to stall on the road while driving. |

| hi have toyota vista ardeo ,had similar problem tried changing the plugs , cleaned the whole fuel system but there was slight improvement , then i tried fuel injector cleaning fluid in my petrol , also change crank sensor ,O2 sensor , only slight improvements finally after engine ceased ,would not start or would start idle then shut down , we had to change fuel punp in tank everythin is now ok so fa its been a week hope thats all it was |

| MacDonald, ihave been working on the vista D4 the following is what i been into on this car, what else do i need to do. I m inmzambia 1 changed complete exaulst piping, original,Cats damage and blocked the system 2 oxygen sensor, high fuel pressure pump, fuel sensor, all changed 3 when the car cuts at following indictors are at operating 4 bar fuel pressure, injectors 6 ms, water temperature at 80 degree. Low and high fuel trims at -0.03%. All looks normal but the car cuts whether at idle or high reves. Partain on cam and crank sensors normal where have i missed touching? |

| I took a d4 after i heard people saying it has problems as a skilled tech it was a greater challenge as i would usually see people having breakdowns all of the times my boss would ask me how do you cope with this car i just told him you need to be smart and tolerant. | I have since removed the whole engine from my Nadia and I am selling the parts contact me. Now I am in the process of putting an old and reliable engine into the body, there are some changes I am making on the engine mountings etc etc. I would rather drive an old and simple engine than keep on stalling with a modern engine. |

| The D4 is one of the strongest engines toyota has ever made.if it goes off in motion,then it has the carbon in the inlet manfort.nicely remove the manford and clean the manford properly and change the plugs(denso plugs are the best I have seen so far)the u will see how good it will peform. |

| Fuel pump, oxygen sensor and throttle part are the only parts that have problems on the D4 engine. I have used the vehicle since 2008 and i will continue using it. This is the best engine ever! Call me on +254721857970 for advise. |

| I have been with vistar ardeo d4 3s engine since 2011,it just started cutting off at humps and junctions,if you remove your foot off the fuel paddle .if you jump-start when your battery has lost and on taking off the leads there is a short circuit then the driver-injector blows off it will just be cranking without firing,once you squint petrol in the manfold it fires, you change the driver injector then problem solved. there is only mechanic that understands vistar...mr manase in mazabuka zambia central africa .phone me 0974071252,0955526444 |

| When was the last time you serviced your Voxy D4? If it has been long, have it serviced..make sure you service the Airflow sensor aswel.On Smoking i, if it is blue smoke..it means your Rings needs to be changed. |
