1987 Honda Accord the hood won't go up problems in United States

| Problems: | I have been trying to get the hood up so I can instal the new alternator I got, but the latch woin't undo. When I got it, the inside hood open latch was undone, so I screwed it back in place, but no matter how hard I pull, nothing works. Also I have tried the latch up under the hood but that does not work either. Is there any other way of getting it open, and if not, what do I do to get it to open? BTW, this is a 1987 Honda Accord, so it is a lot older than the other ones. | |

| the easiest way to get it open is to cut the hood with acetylene torch but that will be a very bad idea. if you can remove the grill, the better. you can have access to the latch. once the hood is open, inspect the latch operation and lubricate it. replace if needed. replace the hood cable if necessary,readjust the hood latch if you think it is necessary too. |
